BLOG UPDATES
Welcome! This blog will be all about my life and journey through university. Follow me for monthly updates and to stay connected with me!
Hello everyone!
It is finally time for my first ever blog post. I can’t really tell if I feel excited or defeated that this is my start into the world of blogging. I told myself multiple times when I was younger when I first got social media that I would only just have Instagram, or just have Instagram and Snapchat. Now I find myself only having almost all of the main social media platforms! This feels like a long dark path that I am venturing down, but I may as well have fun with it while I’m here.
A little bit about myself: My full name is Cole Lawson Floyd Florence, and I was born on October 12th, 2001. This makes me eighteen year old now, and just fresh out of high school. I went to William Aberhart High School here in Calgary. The transition form high school to college was a lot smoother of a one than I initially thought. The whole environment of university and the RTBN program is such a nice change from the traditional style of public school. The smaller class sizes and the common interest within my group of peers, really allows me to thrive in school like I never have before. Combine that with the incredible instructors that this program has, and it’s a combination for great success. Among all the assignments and group work we have to do, the program also offers a lot of individual and personal challenges as well. Things such as unlocking creativity and allowing yourself to be comfortable around your classmates is a hard feat to accomplish for many, and I could say the same for myself. Being one of the youngest people in my class was hard to adjust to, and having to act and just being as flamboyant as possible in front of people sometimes ten years older than me was a hard hill to overcome. Just the sheer factor of intimidation and having to think of myself as older and that I am on the same level as these people took a lot of work. But now starting the second semester I Find myself feeling a lot more at home, and seeing these random strangers suddenly become my second family.
Along with school, I love playing sports and staying active. Right now the only sport i play is volleyball, but I have played Hockey, Basketball, And Track and Field all throughout school as well. I have found sports as a way to relax and forget about life for a few hours a day, and to take my mind off anything that was stressing me out. I am currently playing volleyball for Canuck Stuff Volleyball club, as I have for the last six years. I believe that Canuck is the best club in Canada, and that we produce some of the best athletes in the country. I have been so grateful for my time with the club, and I am sad that this year playing will be my last there. I have been taught so many lessons about mentality and life playing volleyball. I have learned to manage stress, how to cope with difficult situations, and interpersonal skills as to how to inspire and motivate yourself as well as the ones around you. Overall volleyball and sports in general have shaped my life and really made me the person I am, and for that I am forever grateful.
Well, that about does it for my little autobiography, I hope this helped all that read it to learn a little more about me! I will be updating this at least once a month, so make sure to come back to see what I’m up to!
Sincerely,
Cole
PRACTICUM PART ONE!!!
I AM BACK! It has been an awesome first week on practicum, and i have learned so much already! I just got out of a meeting for my first week of production, and it was great! Dylan gave me some awesome feedback on the ads, and some tips I have never heard before! There is such a difference between my classmate’s voices that I am used to, and brand new ones that have had years of experience, the change was so refreshing. I am still grinding away at next weeks work, but it has been nothing but a fun, challenging experience so far. I really enjoy the fresh take on radio, and am looking forward to another great week!
See you in seven days!

PRACTICUM PART TWO!!
Hello again! it has been another crazy week on practicum! I was doing some imaging production this week, and it was a LOT of work! I had about twice the amount of stuff to produce, with like half the time to do it! I really did enjoy seeing how the liners and al the ids are written and pieced together in industry, it really showed me the importance of having consistent quality across a large amount of work. The meeting I had with Dylan was great, we went over all of my production work, and discussed super easy ways to make things sound a whole lot better! This upcoming week I am going to start some writing, as well as some more promo production! Stay tuned for some more fun times!
See you in seven days!

PRACTICUM PART THREE!
Hello for the third time! I am DONE week three of my practicum, and it was an awesome week! Dylan gave me a little less work this time in anticipation for a busy final week, and I loved having the time to focus more on the work he gave me! I had some quick revisions and some new ads to write, and it really was a fun, even though the businesses I has to write for were not the most enthralling (but that’s the industry!) I will return with a final update next week, See you soon!
